As the Ardbeg Hotel, part of the Glenmorangie Company, prepared to welcome its very first guests, their team partnered with Glencraft to provide luxurious mattresses and divans that embody the hotel’s promise of exceptional rest amid beautifully designed interiors.

On the southern coast of Islay, Ardbeg House (formerly the Islay Hotel) in Port Ellen has undergone a meticulous restoration in preparation for its grand re-opening. Owned by the iconic Ardbeg Distillery and designed by Russell Sage Studio, the reimagined estate now includes twelve individually themed bedrooms, each reflecting the rich history and character of Islay, as well as a bar, courtyard, and restaurant.
As part of this ambitious redevelopment, Glencraft was entrusted with creating bespoke mattresses and divan sets to complete each of Ardbeg House’s unique bedrooms.

The partnership was a natural fit, with both Ardbeg and Glencraft sharing a dedication to heritage, craftsmanship, and exceptional quality. Each bedroom tells its own story, with themes inspired by Ardbeg’s distilling legacy and the island’s unique character – from The Rebel Suite, celebrating Islay’s independent spirit, to The Founders Suite, honouring the distillery’s early pioneers.

Every Glencraft mattress was handcrafted in Aberdeen using traditional techniques and natural fillings to ensure exceptional comfort and breathability. Each divan, made-to measure for its specific room, was upholstered in fabrics carefully selected to complement the Russell Sage Studio’s design vision. This close collaboration ensured that the visual language of Ardbeg House was carried through to the finest details.

Glencraft worked with the refurbishment schedule to ensure delivery and installation aligned with the wider project timeline. Every product was custom-built for its space, with special consideration given to dimensions, guest flow, and the practical requirements of luxury hospitality in a remote island setting.
The result is a landmark property that promises to become a destination for whisky lovers and discerning travellers alike.
“Everything went fantastically – the mattresses and divans look incredible, and the care taken by the Glencraft team gave me complete peace of mind. It’s been such a rewarding experience to see the rooms come together with their craftsmanship at the heart of it all.”
– Carina, Glenmorangie Company
“It was a privilege to work with the Glenmorangie team on this extraordinary project. Their passion for quality and hospitality mirrors our own and it’s rewarding to know that Glencraft will play a part in every guest’s experience of rest and relaxation at Ardbeg House.”
