We are pleased to share that our Disability Confident accreditation has been renewed for another three years, a milestone that reflects our continued commitment to inclusive employment and meaningful opportunity for all.
At Glencraft, creating opportunity has been part of who we are since 1843. Our founding purpose was clear: to provide skilled employment for disabled people living in Aberdeen. More than 180 years later, that mission remains central to everything we do. Being recognised again as a Disability Confident Employer isn’t just a certificate on the wall, it’s a reaffirmation of the values that have shaped our organisation for generations.
The UK Government’s Disability Confident Scheme encourages employers to recognise the talent, perspective and capability that disabled people bring to the workplace. For Glencraft, this isn’t a new idea; it’s woven into our DNA. We know first hand that people living with disabilities often bring unique strengths, creative problem-solving skills and fresh perspectives that enrich our team and strengthen our business.

Every day, many disabled people are required to “think outside the box” simply to navigate tasks others might not think twice about. That ability to adapt, innovate and view challenges differently can be a tremendous asset in the workplace. When businesses embrace this mindset, they not only open doors to talented individuals, but they also transform how they think, work and grow.

Being a Disability Confident Employer means equipping our staff with the right awareness and training, from those involved in recruitment through to managers and colleagues across the business. Understanding the barriers disabled people may face, is vital to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and supported.
Importantly, disability inclusion is not an act of charity. By reaching a wider and more diverse talent pool, businesses have a greater chance of finding skilled, motivated people who can bring something genuinely different to their team.
Glencraft is proud to continue championing inclusion, not just within our own walls, but across the partners and suppliers we work alongside. This accreditation strengthens our ability to communicate clearly to the disabled community that they are welcome here, respected here, and recognised for the value they bring.
And for us, that message has never been more important.
