In 2024, Glencraft partnered with Scotsman Hospitality to supply luxury handcrafted mattresses to SPACE St Andrews, a new and innovative student accommodation development in one of Scotland’s most historic university towns. This project reflects both Glencraft’s dedication to comfort and craftsmanship and SPACE’s commitment to offering high-quality student living in a thoughtfully designed environment.

SPACE St Andrews is part of the Scotsman Hospitality’s expansion into the premium student accommodation sector. The property, a redevelopment of the former Kilrymont High School, blends mid-century modern architecture with a fresh, contemporary interior. The result is a vibrant, inclusive space designed to support and enhance the student lifestyle.
The accommodation offers a variety of living options, including studios and 2, 3, and 4-bedroom apartments, each fitted with modern kitchens and bathrooms. Many units feature terrace gardens and expansive views across St Andrews. Beyond the private living spaces, students have access to a wide range of shared facilities such as co-working areas, a gym, on-site café, event spaces, and a carefully curated programme of activities, from yoga classes to cookery workshops that foster community and well-being. Glencraft was selected to provide bespoke mattresses across all room types at SPACE St Andrews. Recognised for our legacy of quality and craftsmanship, we delivered a tailored sleep solution designed to support the demanding and dynamic lives of students.

Each mattress was individually handcrafted at our Aberdeen factory using the finest natural materials that ensure longevity, sustainability and superior comfort. We worked closely with the SPACE design and operations teams to align with their interior style and functional requirements, ensuring the right balance between durability, ease of maintenance, and luxury feel.
Due to the scale of the development and the variety of apartment configurations, this project required detailed planning and precision logistics. With a hard deadline driven by the academic calendar, it was essential that all deliveries were completed on time and in coordination with other installation works on-site.
The project also required careful consideration of mattress sizes and optimal product performance for long-term use. Glencraft’s in-house team managed the full process, from specification and production to delivery and installation, ensuring a seamless handover for the client.
The outcome has been a resounding success. A student has been quoted as saying it’s “Hands down best student accommodation in St Andrews!”. For many students, especially those living away from home for the first time, a supportive mattress can also make a meaningful difference to both their physical and mental health.
